My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for 5 years now, whith no luck. With my last cycle I took Chlomid. I am wondering if there is a certain position we should try or any other tips anyone might have. Oh yeah, He also has a low sperm count. So, we really need tips on how to make them swim faster and more acurately for the egg.
try giving him FertileAid vitamines! they work great and help the swimmers get stronger. im not sure what my husbands Sperm Count was before he started taking them, but he just had a sperm analysis and his count was high! 188 million!! he is also a smoker and on methadone, so i figured it should be low or manybe normal, but not high! i am on clomid as well just because i have low estrogen and am not ovulating regularly. but i have 2 eggs that are getting close to being matured as of yesterday, so its working! good luck to you girl and it will happen!

My husband is prescribed Lortabs and Klonipins and has been for years. Can these contribute to a low Sperm Count? Any links to back this up would be appreciated.
He has a low sperm count and motility, and we are being referred to a fertility clinic.

In both the female and male body, the balance of hormones has to be just right for conception to occur and for pregnancy to proceed. Nutrients that are in excess or that are in depletion can throw off balance and disrupt the pregnancy process. When we can choose whole foods for our diet, we are increasing our chances of obtaining the most nutrients we need. Whole foods include fruits, fresh vegetables, unrefined grains, beans, nuts, seeds, eggs, and small whole fish. It’s important to make sure you’re choosing healthy whole superfoods that have an abundant supply of each of the following vitamins and minerals.Â
B-complex vitamins need to be replenished all the time, as they are water soluble and passed out of the body with urination. Vitamins B6 and B12 are particularly important for fertility and hormonal function. Fortified cereals, fortified soy-based meat substitutes, baked potatoes with skin, bananas, light-meat chicken and turkey, eggs, and spinach are all great sources of B6 and beef, clams, mussels, crabs, salmon, poultry, soybeans, and fortified foods have healthy amounts of B12. Folic Acid, also known as folate, is essential for the production of genetic material in conjunction with vitamin B12. The body cannot store Folic Acid so it must be replenished regularly. It is found naturally in dark green leafy vegetables, apricots, avocados, carrots, egg yolks, liver, melons, whole grains, and yeast’s.
Zinc is an essential component of genetic material and plays an important role in the fertility of men (affecting Sperm Count) and women. Zinc is vital to healthy cell division, so healthy zinc levels are essential at conception. Zinc occurs naturally in oats, rye, almonds, pumpkin seeds and peas.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) work on every system of the body and are essential for healthy hormone production. EFA’s can prevent blood from clotting inappropriately which can be helpful to women who have suffered from recurrent miscarriages (if clotting was an issue). They are primarily found in fish oils. Vitamin E is an antioxidant. Low vitamin E levels can be a cause for subfertility in men and women. Found in wheat germ cereal, sunflower seeds, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, brown rice, eggs, milk, organ meats, soy beans and sweet potatoes.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant, helpful to sperm production and may play a role in healthy ovulation. Vitamin C is essential to the normal healthy functioning of many systems in the human body. Excellent sources include blackcurrants, raw red peppers, guavas and citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruits. Other good sources include strawberries, kiwifruit, broccoli and Brussel sprouts.
Iron aids in the production of red blood cells and carries oxygen around our bodies. The body can lose iron through periods, childbirth or blood loss (including blood donation). Leafy green vegetables, beans, shellfish, red meat, poultry, and soy food products are all good sources of iron.
Vitamin A is an antioxidant essential at conception for the developing embryo. Natural sources include carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, and spinach.

We are about to start TTC, what should he stay away from that would lower sperm count? Is there anything that he could do to help to boost his Sperm Count?
Thanks.
First, both of you should get a preconception checkup, just to rule out any possible problems you might not know about (on either part).
- Eat a balanced diet
- Obviously any unhealthy things like alcohol, smoking, and of course any illegal drugs.
- Stay away from high lead levels (like paints, glues, varnishes etc)
- Keep testicles cool, meaning staying away from hot tubs, hot baths, saunas and snug clothing such as tight jeans and briefs (switch to boxers)
- If he plays any rough sports (including football, soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, horsebacking riding etc) to wear protective gear to prevent injury to the genitals.
- Of course stay away from stress (as much as possible).

Unlike having a baby in your 20’s or 30’s, time is no longer on your side. The faster you conceive, the safer it will be, so you’ve got to concentrate on maximizing and increasing chances of getting pregnant each and every month. There are safe, natural ways to boost your fertility and you should be taking advantage of them. But the best thing you can do, hands down, is get your body into the best shape it can be. This means a protein-rich diet and plenty of exercise. Look up the best pregnancy food and be sure you’re getting enough of it.
Ovulation and getting pregnant go together hand in hand, so make sure you’re using a getting pregnant chart. Pinpoint your exact ovulation date and make sure you and your partner are getting busy the two days before, during, and after that date. The more the better - especially if your partner is a bit older and his Sperm Count might not be what it used to. There are natural ways to go about enhancing that also, and you can find them at the end of this article.
Taking the very best pregnancy vitamins when trying to conceive a baby will dramatically increase your body’s chances of becoming pregnant. As you get older your body requires more, and it’s slower to break down the things you eat each day. Having any type of vitamin deficiency will hurt your cause, so you should consider putting yourself on a recommended prenatal vitamin regimen that will include the following supplements:
Folic Acid - Nothing aids more in fetal development than this one mineral. Women of any age trying to get pregnant should be taking folic acid. Check to see how much you should be using each day, as this may vary by age and body type.
Zinc - Studies have found that zinc helps supercharge fertility. Once you do get pregnant, zinc will play a major role in the overall development of healthy tissues within your baby. Make sure you’re taking this one, and you can find it in almost any multivitamin.
Vitamin C - Getting enough vitamin C is always good, but on your quest to getting pregnant after 40 it’s especially important that you stave off common colds and every day viruses.
Iron - A woman’s body, as it gets older, doesn’t absorb iron the same way it used to. That’s why getting enough iron each day, especially if you’re anemic, is of major importance.
DHA - Most of the top prenatal vitamins include this compound.   An version of omega-3 fatty acid, Docosahexaenoic acid is usually found in fish and is important for heart, eye, and brain development. Women trying to get pregnant usually avoid fish and don’t get enough of this vital nutrient, so make sure you supplement your diet with this important addition.
Vitamin B6 & B12 - Essential for energy! Give your body an energy kick while helping jumpstart your metabolism by making sure you’re taking these top prenatal vitamins. B6 is also great for alleviating symptoms of morning sickness once you do conceive your child.
Keep in mind that these are only a small few of the best prenatal supplements. Pregnancy after 40 can be made a lot faster and easier by giving yourself every possible chance you can, and by molding your body into tip-top shape. Just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean you should’ve be healthy, and a fit body and sound mind is always the best asset to increasing chances of getting pregnant.

Despite all that you might hear the fact of the matter is that the non-medical use of steroids is prohibited by law. Steroids are illegal. Despite all the efforts being put to restrict the trade in steroids there are still many bodybuilders and other types of athletes who persist in the use of these substances. The number is indeed on the rise since younger athletes are falling for the lure of steroids in the hope that they will help them in gaining muscle mass faster.
There is a need for concerted efforts to educate all steroid users about the possible side-effects that are associated with the continued use of steroids. These side-effects are either physical or physiological.
First up, it’s imperative that we know what steroids are. Steroids are fully referred to as anabolic-androgenic steroids. The words anabolic and androgenic both come from the Greek language. Androgenic is derived from the word that means ‘to make masculine’ while anabolic simply means ‘to build’. Steroids are the artificial derivatives of the natural male hormone testosterone. This hormone is produced in the male testes and is responsible for imparting both anabolic and androgenic properties.
Androgenic characteristics include a deepening of the voice and proliferation of body hair. On the other hand anabolic properties have to do with the body’s capacity to retain ingested protein the protein is thus used in the growth and development of muscles. It is this property that bodybuilders go for when they choose to use steroids.
Steroid users use either injectable or oral preparations. In recent times the use of injectable preparations has been on the increase. Injectable are of two types, those that have long lasting effects and those whose effects are short term. The trend nowadays is to use short-term effect preparations that are water soluble. This is after research revealed that oral preparations were having negative effects on people’s livers. Either way, the use of steroids is very detrimental to the body’s major organs i.e. the heart, kidneys and liver.
Steroids are used obliviously by the many persons who are after better looks, better performance at the workplace and better feelings in life. This cannot be further form the truth. The male body produces sub 10mg levels of testosterone daily. This is in healthy males. The steroid preparations that are in use today may provide as much as several hundred milligrams of steroids. This quantity far exceeds the daily body requirement. Surely the body must be overwhelmed particularly so the major organs.
No wonder the body becomes prone to a myriad of diversely serious side-effects. Scary stuff. Come to think of it, it is on record that steroids are not capable of increasing your agility, cardiovascular ability or even your skill levels.
Some of the physical side effects that steroids are known to impart to men include impotence, testicle shrinking, breast development, painful urination and a reduction in the Sperm Count level. For the ladies we can expect changes in the menstruation cycle, breast size reduction, growth of facial hair and a deep voice.
